UFC on FX 4: Five Reasons You Should Watch Stuck
Posted on June 20, 2012 at 05:36 PM.

The UFC starts their busy weekend with an exciting fight card in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Gray Maynard and Clay Guida headline the fight card which takes place one night before the UFC's other event of the weekend, UFC 147.

Although this is what's considered a "free" fight card for the fans, it is more anticipated than the $50+ UFC 147.

Here are five reasons why you should be tuning into this event:

5. The Price is Right
Whenever you have the opportunity to watch a fight card that includes the likes of Clay Guida, Gray Maynard, and Brian Ebersole without paying the cost of a pay-per-view, it should be taken advantage of.

4. Brian Ebersole
Many fans may now just be getting word about how good Brian Ebersole is. At age 31 he already has 65 professional fights under his belt and has yet to be knocked out.

Ebersole comes into his fourth UFC fight as one of the most well-rounded fighters on the welterweight roster. He has explosive power, a great ground game, and a chin that can take punches unlike many others in the sport.

3. You Won't Be Watching UFC 147 on Saturday
Typically the die-hard MMA fans have plans well in advance of each UFC PPV event. Not this time. UFC 147 is going to be one of the lowest selling UFC PPV's of all time and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks the record and becomes the worst.

Since you won't be watching UFC 147 on Saturday night, the UFC on FX card is going to be your fix until July 7 (Silva vs. Sonnen II).

2. Solid Prelims
The preliminary fights, which will be broadcasted on FuelTV, are filled with fighters who put on a good show.

Hatsu Hioki (26-4-2) vs. Ricardo Lamas (11-2) is a great matchup between two guys who have a very good all-around skill set.

Also featured on the FuelTV portion of the card are exciting fighters such as Matt Brown, Rick Story, and submission specialist Steven Siler.

For the ****** MMA fan, I implore you to catch as much of the prelims as possible to get a glimpse as to how deep the UFC roster is. You won't be disappointed.

1. Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida
Clay Guida is arguably the most exciting fighter in the UFC today.

Guida is on the cusp of a title shot and a win over Maynard should solidify himself as the #2 contender behind Nate Diaz in the lightweight rankings.

UFC fans who have followed Guida over the years know what to expect. The man looks like a bulldog in the Octagon and can take a sledgehammer to the chin and stay on his feet. Guida has been awarded many Fight of the Night honors, including two Fight of the Year awards.

Gray Maynard shot up the UFC ranks with immediate success with wins over Dennis Siver, Frankie Edgar, Jim Miller, Roger Huerta, Nate Diaz, and Kenny Florian.

Maynard fought Frankie Edgar for the second and third time in 2011 and ended up falling short in his bid for the championship. A win against Guida would put him right back in the picture.

I would be very surprised if this fight didn't earn Fight of the Night.

Looking forward to this one. There should be a lot of great fights, and can't complain about free. Just wish the TV channel that UFC airs on up here wasn't cutting out an hour of the prelims.

As for "3. You Won't Be Watching UFC 147 on Saturday", yeah, I will. I'll be one of the five people watching that PPV.
